About Me
“Hi! I’m Alona, founder of Michigan Apparel Manufacturer, a sewing studio built to serve indie designers and small brands in their product development & production needs.
Before starting this company, I earned my degree in Fashion Design from Central Michigan University and then went on to work at four different apparel & soft goods manufacturers across Michigan. Each one taught me something different — how to make quality garments, how to treat people with kindness & compassion, what slows down production, and most importantly, what small brands really need to in their humble beginnings.
In 2024, my last workplace, DetroitSewn, closed its doors. The business structure was unsustainable, and they couldn’t pivot quickly enough to combat issues along the way. But I saw the enormous impact the company made in helping young companies build their dreams; and I didn’t want that magic to end for Michigan.
So I bought sewing machines & supplies from DetroitSewn, gathered a small team of skilled sewers and cutters, and launched the website. We now help designers bring their products to life — with clear communication, small MOQs, and expert guidance from start to finish.
If you're building a brand and looking for a down-to-earth, experienced partner to help you grow, I’d love to hear from you.”
